A few parents asked about a flashcard app for their students. We created First Form and Second Form Latin Flashcards on Quizlet. They are available on the web and as an iPhone or android app.

A record 7 out of 16 Highlands Latin seniors were just recognized in the National Merit Scholarship Competition (6 Semifinalists and 1 Commended Student). Semifinalists represent the top 1% of college-bound seniors. The odds of this just happening by chance are about 1 in 300,000,000. (See the Insider Louisville feature article about this rare accomplishment.)
Congratulations to Semifinalists (back) Samuel Roberts, Logan Crum, Andrew Thibaudeau, Spencer Henderson, (front) Anna McCain, and Lauren Petrey, and Commended Student, Tom Mangione, pictured with Principal Shawn Wheatley and Headmistress Cheryl Lowe.
Highlands Latin has created a culture of excellence that has led to the highest percentage of National Merit Semifinalists in Louisville over the last 10 years.
I hope you enjoyed your long summer. As we begin this year, I want to update you about changes for the 2015-2016 school year.
Finally, I emailed you in the spring about plans for a new gym at Spring Meadows. Last week, we received our site permit to begin building the parking lot and pad for the gym. We hope to have the gym completed before the end of 2015.
In the same email, I mentioned that the city was requiring us to install almost $200,000 worth of sidewalks. We did reach a compromise to build a much shorter sidewalk from our entrance to a new TARC stop on our property. Thank you for the support many of you provided in reaching this agreement.
